How it works: Once you've contacted us for a quote, we'll work with you to determine what you need and roughly how long we think it will take. We'll then prepare a rough draft of the artwork, and send you a JPEG via email to review. If you want changes, we'll make a new draft and continue the process until you're happy with the final DVD CD artwork result. Once you like the draft, we finalize it and keep it in our archive until you are ready to proceed with your CD or DVD replication.
How long the artwork takes: How many hours we spend to design your artwork depends on what you want, how many revisions the design goes through, and what materials you provide us. Straightforward materials for which you've provided some basic images often takes 2 hours or less. We'll provide an estimate after consulting with you, and get your approval before exceeding our estimated time. Artwork and Design services are billed upon completion of the project. However, if we're working on a large project for you, we may bill you on a weekly basis for work completed.
Ownership & Archiving: Once you've paid for our time, you own the final DVD artwork design and are free to use that artwork in any way you wish. It is considered "work for hire" and is not subject to any royalties, fees, etc. The files we send are high resolution JPEGs - if you wish to receive layered Photoshop files for future modification on CD-R, additional charges will apply (see above).
Timing: Our designers are often working on multiple projects, so turnaround of your artwork design usually takes 2 - 3 working days for an initial rough draft, 1 - 2 working days per revision pass, and 1- 2 working days to complete once you've approved the cover artwork draft. Approvals given after 1:00pm PST are considered to be given the next day. Faster turnaround may be available; please ask us about rush fees if you are in a hurry. Turnaround times may vary depending on complexity of design.
Color Matching: If you have a color critical job, you can send a hard proof along with your DVD or CD master. For $19.95, we'll do our best to match our output to your proof. Please note that given the differences in printers, ink, paper stock, and other production variables, 100% accurate matching across all colors may not be possible, but we will get the artwork results as close as reasonably possible to your proof.
Client Provided Materials: The best way to provide source artwork for faster turnaround is to send digital files.
- Ideal digital file sizes are 300 dots per inch (dpi) for an 8x10 inch image.
- We will accept formats in (JPG), (TIFF), (EPS), Illustrator (AI), or Photoshop (PSD) file formats.
- If you have any text changes please send them in a (TXT), (RTF), (HTML), or Word (DOC) file format with all of the text changes -- this assures that there are no typos and also improves turnaround time. If it is not possible to send a digital file format, then you can send Imagery to us by mail.
- You must realize that image quality may vary depending on the artwork that we will be scanning from.
- Images with text over them take extra time to create the disc artwork from, and there are no guarantees that we can make the image work.
